Notes from the April 29 meeting

The second composter will be arriving soon.

Bob will pick up mushroom compost on the Mother's Day weekend. Volunteers are requested to help get the compost into the plots.

Plans are on track to build a shed that will include equipment such as a wheelbarrow, water spout, and hose. The shed will be locked with the combination made available to community garden members.

To extend the lifespan of the plots, we will need to paint them this summer. We decided upon a base coat of moss green. Community garden members and children from the Learning Centre will be invited to paint on top, in a light green. The preliminary plan is that paint chips will br brought to the May 9 meeting for final decision. The week of May 20, the adult volunteers will paint the base coats.

Starting in June, we will set up a mowing and cleaning schedule. Mowing should be done once or twice a week, depending on how fast the grass grows and cooperative weather.

The next meeting will be at the garden on May 9, at 7:00pm. We'll look at the site and choose paint colours.
